April 1st - April 30th 

Calling all artists!  We are looking for art to help brighten up the halls of the pediatric oncology wards at McMaster Children's Hospital.  Simply make some art (using any medium of your choice) and email it to [email protected].  We do not need the original, just a clear photo of the art.  All of the art is published online, and a selection is used to create collage posters that are displayed in oncology.  If you would like to fundraise, registration is free!  Just click the link below and help us support children fighting cancer.

ATTENTION EDUCATORS!!

STEPS FOR CLASSES TO PARTICIPATE:

1. Have your class create joyful art using lots of colour!  All mediums are welcome. 

2. Send CLEAR, DIGITAL PHOTOS to [email protected] with the name of your school and the grade you teach.

3. Your art will be posted in this gallery, on our social media pages (@wishheartfund on IG) and a selection will be hung on the walls of the pediatric oncology wards at Mac.

The posters below were created from art that was submitted last year.  They are hung on the walls of the inpatient and outpatient oncology wards at Mac.  Many families have told us how happy the art makes their children on the ward - which is the main reason this art exhibition exists.  Thank you to all participants and donors - last year we raised over $30,000!!!

Why is it called the Choose Hope Art Exhibition?

​When Jack got diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, we were told that he only had a 1 in 5 chance of survival. That he had every clinical marker of an aggressive leukemia. He needed a bone marrow transplant, and that 15 out of every 100 kids who went for a bone marrow transplant would not survive. Plus he was a baby, he was less than 6 months old at diagnosis, and the doctors were very honest with me. He probably would not beat this.

Hope is something that requires attention to maintain. It's hard work to keep hope alive in times of stress and in our case with Jack, complex trauma.  I had to choose to be hopeful, I chose it with a vengeance, and hope sustained me when we got news that froze my insides. Hope and faith gave me the power to go on. 

We know that other families are choosing hope while fighting cancer every day. The art is in honour of their fight and their hope for their children.
